Halton Haven Hospice stays connected thanks to Merseyflow

Patients and staff in Halton Haven Hospice will be better connected thanks to a generous donation from merseyflow.

The funding will be used to purchase and install a new Nurse Call System, which will replace the outdated and problematic system currently in place, giving patients and staff peace of mind that they can be connected whenever needed.

The hospice makes a real difference in people’s lives by providing specialist palliative care, completely free of charge, to people from Halton and the surrounding areas who are living with life-limiting conditions.

Each year Halton Haven Hospice needs to raise more than £1.2 million to meet its annual running costs as it receives only 50% from statutory sources. With the additional financial pressure of cost of living increases this amount will only go up, meaning donations like the one from mersyflow are essential to ensure the service can continue to support those in need.

Neil Conway, Chief Executive Officer of merseyflow, said: “The work of Halton Haven Hospice is invaluable to the community. It is a local charity, chosen by our staff, and we have supported Halton Haven with financial assistance and staff fundraising and volunteering activity for a number of years. I’m pleased we’re able to assist with funding for a new Nurse Call System, which will give reassurance to both staff and patients and allow the team to continue to provide excellent care for the people in Halton when they need it most.”

Viv Culleton, Chief Executive Office/Registered Manager from Halton Haven Hospice, said: “The system we had in place was installed almost ten years ago and was definitely in need of an upgrade. Thanks to the kind donation from merseyflow we can be sure that if a patient needs us, or if a staff member requires additional help with a patient, we can be there immediately.”
