How can I register my fleet?

You will be able to register them all under one account. This will enable you to monitor all your vehicles in one place and update or change any information accordingly. You can open an account and register all of your vehicles either at our website www.merseyflow.co.uk , over the phone to our customer contact centre or in person at our Walk-in Centre in Runcorn.

Is there a cost to register my fleet?

Registration for a pre-pay plan requires an initial minimum £20 payment to open the account. This acts as credit on your account to be used for future crossings. A £5 vehicle registration fee is also applicable to each vehicle. You do not need to register, you can simply pay the unregistered toll fee, this payment can be made either before your journey, or up to midnight the day after.

What documents will I need to provide to register?

There is no requirement to provide documents to register your business vehicles, all we need is your vehicle registration number.

Do you offer any discount schemes for business or fleet users?

Yes, business users and fleet users can save up to 10% off the cost of the toll per vehicle.

Sticker registration offers the highest discount at 10% off the cost of the toll. The discount is available to all classes of vehicle.

If your fleet or business has use of class 2 vehicles (car or small vans 3.5 tonnes or less) you could benefit from one of our Monthly Passes:

  • Unlimited Monthly Travel pass – this allows unlimited travel across either the Silver Jubilee Bridge or Mersey Gateway Bridge 24hrs a day for a class 2 vehicle at a cost of £90pm. This is not available to Class 3 & 4 Vehicles.
  • Off-Peak Pass – this allows unlimited travel across either the Silver Jubilee Bridge or Mersey Gateway Bridge between the hours of 10am – 4pm Monday – Friday, 7pm – 7am Monday – Friday, and 24hrs a day on weekends and bank holidays for a cost of £60pm. This is not available to class 3 & 4 vehicles. Any peak journeys will be charged with a 10% reduction. To prevent potential Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), we recommend a payment method is stored against your merseyflow account to cover the cost of any peak journeys.

Can I use the sticker allocated to my fleet on more than one vehicle?

No, the stickers are not interchangeable between vehicles, they work in conjunction with our Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to ensure accuracy and consistency and will assign themselves to the vehicle registration number on the first time of crossing.

Once installed, can the sticker be removed?

No, If removed, the sticker will become damaged and will no longer function. A replacement sticker would then be required at a cost of £5 each.

Where do I position the sticker in the vehicle?

Please refer to our sticker installation page

What happens if I change a vehicle in my fleet?

You will need to notify us of any changes to the vehicles within your fleet at your earliest available opportunity to safeguard your company form receiving a Penalty Charge Notice. This can be done easily online, or through our customer contact centre.

I have a mix of vehicle classifications in my fleet, how much will I be charged per vehicle?

All journeys made will be charged at the rate shown in the table below. Please note, all charges are for each one-way trip.

If you are a registered fleet user, all monies will be deducted from the same account, so you must make sure there is enough money to cover all vehicles.

Payment method class 1_vehicles class 2_vehicles class 3_vehicles class 4_vehicles Discount on the standard toll Comments
Sticker-registered Free £1.80 £5.40 £7.20 10% Discount for sticker and registration.
Video-registered Free £1.90 £5.70 £7.60 5% For those users who register, but do not want a sticker

On occasion, I may need to hire a vehicle how does this work within my fleet account?

The hire vehicle details will need to be added to your account and the £5 one-off vehicle registration fee paid prior to making a journey in order for you to continue to receive your discounted rate. When you return your hire vehicle you need to notify us at your earliest available opportunity so this vehicle can be removed from your account.

Should you fail to remove the vehicle from your account, or notify us when you no longer have use of the vehicle, this could result in your merseyflow account being charged for somebody else’s crossings when the vehicle has been rehired.

If I only hire the vehicle for a few days should I register the vehicle to my merseyflow account?

If you only hire the vehicle for a few days, you can pay the Toll/charge for the unregistered vehicle’s crossings and pay before or up to midnight the day after the crossings. This can be done over the telephone with our customer contact centre, or in person at our Walk-in Centre in Runcorn.

How can I ensure that there are always sufficient funds in my merseyflow account?

Why can’t I pay by BACS?

We currently accept payment by the following methods:

  • Online using a credit/debit card
  • In person at our walk-in centre in Runcorn using cash or credit/debit card
  • Over the telephone 01928 878 878 to our contact centre by credit/debit card
  • At any Payzone outlet
  • We do NOT currently accept BACS as a payment method.
    • A BACS payment takes 3 days to credit your merseyflow account and must be issued by you, the customer. Should your account have insufficient funds to pay for one of your journeys, your account could temporarily close and therefore you would be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice, we therefore do not offer this function as a means of safeguarding our customers. We currently offer the Direct Debit facility; this is a reactive function that triggers when your account balance reaches a pre-defined level or value.

Who do I contact for advice and guidance regarding my fleet?

We have a specialist fleet team who will be able to guide you through registration and administration of your fleet. If you have a large fleet, our team may be able to proactively keep an eye on your fleet account, to ensure smooth running, hence minimising potential for Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs). The team will be able to advise on how to register, the best discount option based on the class demographic makeup of your fleet, and how to maintain a sufficient credit balance on the account to safeguard against receiving PCNs.
